Master Chief and Cortana in the aft section of Forward Unto Dawn are jettisoned on a random trajectory into slipspace. The ship exits slipspace at an unknown location near a nebula star cluster and begins drifting towards Requiem as the MC enters cryo.
The front side of the Forward Unto Dawn exits slipspace above the Excession at Voi (the Portal), at Earth and crash lands into the Indian Ocean. The Arbiter is soon recovered by an engineering crew overwatched by a UNSC Rescue Team and a Pelican.
Codename: SURGEON filed a report to Codename: USUAL SUSPECTS entitled "Historical/Psychological Analysis of Cole, Preston J." The report was filed from UNSC Point of No Return in synchronous orbit on the far side of Luna. They believe Preston Cole to still be alive, somewhere.
Dr. Ruth Charet gives her inaugural address as the new President of the United Earth Government.
The black ops cell Kilo-Five is formed by Admiral Margaret Orlenda Parangosky. Its members include Captain Serin Osman, Naomi-010, and several ODSTs. Because of Parangosky's distrust of the Sangheili, she sends Kilo-Five on a mission to cause insurrection between the Covenant separatists led by Thel 'Vadam and the Servants of Abiding Truth.
The UNSC Security Council begins the reconstruction of the colonies. Lord Hood plans a diplomatic mission to surviving UEG colonies to discuss plans for reconstruction.
Kilo-Five supplies arms to the Servants of Abiding Truth on New Llanelli in the Brunel system. They also retrieve ONI spy Mike Spenser from a UNSC listening post on Reynes.
Dr. William Arthur Iqbal sends a message to his colleagues, concerning the ongoing study of Forerunner artifacts.
Lord Hood arrives at Sanghelios to meet with Thel 'Vadam to formalize a treaty of peace between the humans and the Sangheili. Hood also invites Thel to attend the memorial ceremony dedicated to those who died during the war.
After Lucy-B091 discovers a population of Huragok within the Sharpened Shield, the Huragok assist the human survivors in establishing communications with the ONI ships prowling the debris field of Onyx. The Huragok soon bring the shield world into normal space from the slipspace bubble, thus allowing the ONI vessels to retrieve Dr. Catherine Halsey, SCPO Franklin Mendez and the SPARTAN-IIs and SPARTAN-IIIs of Blue Team. Per an order from Admiral Parangosky, Dr. Halsey is arrested by Captain Serin Osman.
ONI dispatches science teams to recover Forerunner technologies from the shield world, designating the sphere as ONI Research Facility Trevelyan at Dr. Halsey's request.
Andrew Del Rio is chosen as the commanding officer of the experimental ONI vessel, UNSC Infinity.
In a ceremony presided over by Lord Hood, a monument is erected in the Kenyan savannah near Mount Kilimanjaro to officially mark the end of the Human-Covenant War, and in remembrance of those who gave their lives in the war, including John-117, who is labeled MIA and is posthumously promoted to Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy. A full military detail, led by Gunnery Sergeant Stacker and including PFC Chips Dubbo, deliver a 21-gun salute to the fallen. All the remaining SPARTAN-II super-soldiers are present for the ceremony. After the ceremony, Thel 'Vadam and his surviving brethren depart Earth for their homeworld, Sanghelios. Various other UNSC personnel were also present, including ONI Commander-in-Chief Admiral Margaret Parangosky, Captain Serin Osman, and CPO Franklin Mendez. No members of the UNSC Army were invited.
Insurgent attacks, carried out by Jiralhanae servants, results in the death of dozens of Sangheili in Ontom, Sanghelios.
Forces loyal to the Servants of Abiding Truth launch an assualt on Vadam starting the Sangheili civil war.
Jul 'Mdama and his followers, the Covenant remnant[Storm Covenant], find the shield world Requiem. Over the next three years, the Storm try unsuccessfully to enter the shield world.
The M6H Personal Defense Weapon System is adopted as the UNSC Defense Force's primary sidearm.
Tomas Navarro from Halo 3 Believe: Enemy Weapon enters UNSC service.
Hannibal Weapon Systems take over production of the MJOLNIR Powered Assault Armor/Rogue.
A musical event, Believe, takes place at the UNSC Symphony Hall at 1900 hours, and is performed by the UNSC's own Symphony Orchestra. It is centered on remembering Master Chief Petty Officer John-117 and his service to the UNSC.
Onboard the UNSC Forward Unto Dawn, Cortana, showing clear signs of Rampancy, files a report on the history of the Forerunners and Humanity. She also files John-117's service record for storage on the Dawn.
The UNSC Infinity is commissioned into service, led by Captain Andrew Del Rio, Commander Thomas Lasky, and Commander Sarah Palmer.
Aboard the UNSC Forward Unto Dawn, Cortana wakes John-117 from his cryotube and warns him of Covenant forces trying to board. Once off the frigate, they realize they are on the Forerunner shield world Requiem. Having tried in vain for three years, the Covenant remnant finally gain access to the shield world; Shipmaster Jul 'Mdama orders his forces to board Forward Unto Dawn to keep the ship from landing on Requiem.
The Infinity picks up the distress call of the Forward Unto Dawn. Upon nearing Requiem, the ship's control systems are hacked by an unknown entity and is crash-landed on the conservation sphere's surface.
